Cyclocross - it's not that new!

Is it just me? But I keep seeing these articles cropping up everywhere I hate to be the one to burst their bubble but it's hardly like it's a new sport! Just because there's not a bunch of movies about kids trying to get a scholarship into college on the 'cross skills doesn't exactly make it a fringe activity. 

So all that is fine, but it's starting to seem like every few months, someone goes "Well we haven't written an article about cyclocross for a while" and they tweak a couple of details and roll it out. Or maybe I'm being uncharitable. 

What about you guys?

Anyone have experience in cyclocross racing?
